Welcome to the IntRef project!

The Intercultural Reflection on Teaching (IntRef) project aims to stimulate reflective dialogue and collaborative problem-solving between academics across different countries, institutions,
departments and disciplines, facilitated by technology.

The project is underpinned by research on reflection on teaching and aims to enhance participants’ teaching, self-efficacy and intercultural competence.

Funded by Erasmus+, IntRef is made of a consortium of Durham University, United Kingdom (project coordinator), Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, and the University of Padova in Italy.

We have developed three intercultural reflective activities:

  • Intercultural Reflecting Team where you share cases arisen in your practice and discuss these with a transnational group, facilitated by video-conferencing.
  • Intercultural Teaching Process Recall where you film your own teaching, watch the recording and share a short excerpt during a mutually supportive transnational meeting.
  • Intercultural Peer Observation where you film your own teaching and form transnational pairs/teams in which recordings are shared and discussed in a one-to-one synchronous virtual chat.

The project outputs include a technological toolkit, walk-through manual for each method, and case studies.
